The Captain

Captain John

After a long and successful career in law enforcement, I was very fortunate to be able to “retire” at a fairly young age. This didn’t mean that I was finished working, but only that there was another calling for me and my family.

Having grown up and been around oceans all my life, I launched a second career by purchasing a yacht and starting a charter company. That one yacht purchase has evolved into developing San Diego Bay Cruises, the largest private yacht charter network in San Diego where I now own three yachts of my own and represent approximately 25 others around San Diego Bay. San Diego Bay Cruises has hosted thousands of parties and celebrations, ranging from corporate events, weddings, birthdays, and many other of life’s milestones.

Over the years, we’ve also been asked to do occasional burials at sea and Celebrations of Life services. As a “party boat” company, it never occurred to us that there was a need for this service. Not only a need from the public we serve but a need for us to be reminded to be humble in our lives and appreciate everything and everyone in our lives.

As such, we found a new calling to separate this side of our business and create a specific and designated service to be able to accommodate the families who have come to know and trust us to be able to provide these services for them and their loved ones. We are now one of San Diego’s most experienced and trusted Funerals at Sea service providers. We are dedicated to accommodating those in need of genuine professionals with the best services for ash scattering, full body burials at sea, and Celebration of Life services available.
